Conference “Perspectives of socio-economic development of border regions” will take place in the conference hall of Karelian Research Centre of Russian Academy of Sciences on June 9, 2017. Presentations by scientists from Moscow, Apatity, Vologda and other regions will be given in online mode. Registration as a listener is not required. The conference is open to the public.

Day of EU Countries

Barents EU Centre is hosting the “Day of EU Countries” within the project “EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented with the financial support of the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

Barents EU Center invites you to participate in a scientific conference “Treaty of Rome: Europe after 60 years”. The conference will take place within the framework of the “EU Center in the Barents Region of Russia” project, implemented with the financial support of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union and organizational support of the Association of European Research. It is the second scientific conference for young researchers of the problems of modern Europe.

Barents EU Center announces the beginning of the annual contest among school students of the Barents Region of Russia “What do I know about the EU”. The contest is held in the format of an online-quiz within the framework of the project “EU Center in the Barents Region of Russia” implemented with the financial support of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.

Federal Ministry of Education and Women Affairs invites candidates with the knowledge of German to work in Austrian schools as assistants to Russian teachers. Candidates must be under 30 years old and have at least a two-year work experience in higher education.

Lecture “The EU-Russia crisis: will there be a reset in 2017” by Nicolas De Pedro (research fellow at Barcelona Centre for International Affairs) will take place on 17 March 2017 within the framework of the EU research club.

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in partnership with Charles University (Prague) and the support of Princeton University, the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO Cyprus Centre), the LSEE unit ‘Research on South Eastern Europe’ and the Chair of Jewish Studies (School of Philosophy AUTH) is organising a Summer Seminar on Heretics, Converts and Infidels: Political, Cultural and Social Aspects of Religion in ‘Shared Worlds’. The Seminar will take place from Monday 19 June to Friday 30 June 2017 in the premises of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (Greece). The program offers 60 hours of teaching and outdoor activities and a long weekend at the camping site of AUTH in Halkidiki.

A simulation of the Arctic Council will take place in Rome on May 2-5. It is intended to give students the possibility to play a leading role in the conducting and decision-making of one of the most advanced intergovernmental forum, following the mechanism of negotiations and the official rules of procedure.
