Exhibition in Bulgaria

Under support of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under financial support of the European Union, PetrSU took part in the international educational exhibition “Education Without Limits” in Sophia (October 18 – 20, 2013). Traditionally this event gathers all educational institutions and educational organizations from all over the world.

This autumn in the building of National Palace of Culture representatives of higher education institutions from 16 countries (Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, the Netherlands, Denmark, the Great Britain, the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan) offered their opportunities to Bulgarian students and school leavers.  

Russia was represented by 3 higher education institutions, including Petrozavodsk State University. Despite today’s youth in Bulgaria doesn’t speak Russian in contrast to the older generation, their parents and prefer to speak English PetrSU billboard aroused great attention. The young people mostly were interested in the courses in English, including courses developed within the framework of the project.   

While participating in the exhibition representatives of the Institute of International Programs described the activity of the Barents EU Centre, visited Russian Cultural and Information Centre and had a meeting with the representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo in Bulgaria, with the head of the department of science and education Konstantin Peev and Alexandra Georgieva. In the course of the meeting the following issues were discussed: cooperation in the scientific and educational spheres, student exchange, academic mobility, promotion of Russian higher school in Bulgaria.
