Grants for fellowships in Germany in 2012 (Marion Dönhoff scholarships)

In 2012 the International Journalist Programme organisation once again invites journalists from CIS countries to participate in the fellowship programme

25-35 year old freelancers and newspaper employees, TV, radio and staff of the internet companies can apply for Marion Dönhoff scholarships. Applicants have to be fluent in German, in order to be able to conduct an interview and communicate freely with their German colleagues. 

The programme starts at the beginning of October, 2012 with the introductory seminar, where alongside with the applicants from Russia, German candidates will also take part. Right after the seminar participants will leave to the place of their fellowship, that is determined by the Special commission of IJP.

Required documents:

-          Letter of motivation for participation in the programme (in German);

-          CV in a tabular form indicating the date of birth, phone number and e-mail address (in German);

-          Three previously published texts in the original language (translation into German is optional); copies of materials should contain logo of the edition and the date of publication.

Transcripts of radio- and TV-programmes must be approved by the editorial press.

Materials on audio-and video media will not be accepted.

- Letter of recommendation from work signed by head of the department or the chief editor.

Freelancers have to submit a letter of recommendation signed by the main employer stating that the latter is not against the journalist’s stay in Germany for the time of the fellowship.  

- Proof of the applicant’s proficiency in German (certificate of attendance of language courses)

Application deadline is April 15, 2012.
