Competitive selection of candidates to study for Master’s degree
Dear students, graduate students, lecturers and PetrSU employees!
Heriot-Watt University in cooperation with Tomsk Polytechnic University announces a competition for the MSc programs for the academic year of 2011-2012, followed by job placement in oil and gas companies of Russia and abroad.
Candidates that meet the following requirements are invited to participate in the competition:
- Higher technical or natural science education;
- Proficiency in English (intermediate level);
- Diploma with the average grade of 4;
- Age limit – under 35 y.o.;
- Russian citizenship;
- Sense of purpose.
The candidates that have successfully gone through all the stages of competition have an opportunity to
1. Be employed in oil and gas companies;
2. Get a scholarship for postgraduate studies. When graduated successfully the candidate will be awarded with 2 degrees: the International Master’s degree at Heriot-Watt University andwill receive the Professional Retraining Diploma of Tomsk Polytechnic University. The training is conducted in Tomsk Polytechnic University at the Petroleum Learning Centre. The Centre was founded in 2001 and now carries out paid postgraduate training of petroleum engineers.
3. Respectable financial support for the period of studying, and accommodation in a new European-type dormitory.
Training is conducted in 2 specialties:
- "MSc in Petroleum Engineering";
-" MSc in Reservoir Evaluation and Management"
discontinued for 12 months, carried out in English by Heriot-Watt professors and lecturers from Tomsk Polytechnic University, that have received special training in Edinburgh. During first 6 months applicants gain knowledge on the disciplines that cover prospecting, exploration, development and exploitation of oil and gas deposits, as well as perform practical course projects and design labs. During the next 3 months candidates work on individual research projects, focusing on the solution of oil and gas deposits problems.
