Call for Applications Devoted to the Publication of Scientific Articles in the International Collective Monograph “Civic Consciousness: Russian-German Dialog”

Lifelong Learning Institute of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Institute of Comparative Research of Societies Modernization of KFU, the EU Centre VOICES of KFU, German Centre of Education, Science and Culture of KFU invite You to publish scientific articles in the international collective monograph “Civic Consciousness: Russian-German Dialog”.

 

The EU declared that 2013 is the European year of citizens. In 2013 the EU will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the EU citizenship which was introduced within the framework of the Maastricht Treaty. Citizens of the European Union along with the basic rights and obligations also have some additional rights: the right to vote and be elected to the representative bodies of the European Union, the right to travel and work in the European zone, enjoy visible advantages given by the membership of the EU. However, establishing the common European house didn’t eliminate the traditional problems of developed countries. The questions of the irregular migration, refugees, and labor migrants are still relevant in allEurope.

 

The book is designed as the dialog between Russian and German scientists. The peculiarity of the modern state of the German society is the search of adequate political, economic and social status in the EU, generally accepted model of understanding of European citizenship. The aspect of the EU citizenship is interesting forRussiaas it allows to conceptually comprehend the problem of civil rights realization and define the ways of solving regarding the foreign experience and Russian objectives and possibilities.

 

The following issues are supposed to be discussed in the book:

-         Civil participation in the EU: democracy versus technocracy?

-         Citizenship and economic rights: the problem of correlation of local citizenship and the EU citizenship.

-         The status of non-citizens in the EU andRussia.

-         The problem of legal status and social integration of labor migrants.

-         The culture of civic consciousness: modern state.

-          The list of questions may be broadened.

 

The target group of the book is students, post-graduate students, lecturers, scientists and experts who are interested in citizenship problems.

 

The procedure of article submitting:

  1. By July 1, 2013 the authors should submit CV (up to 3 pages), the list of most significant publications and brief thesis of the future article (2000 – 2500 characters).
  2. By July 15, 2013 editorial board will inform authors if their articles correspond to the topics of the book.
  3. Authors who passed the selection should send the full text of the article by September 30, 2013.
  4. The book will be published in February 2014.

Technical design of the articles:

The abstracts should be sent by e-mail to citizenbookkazan@gmail.com. Please, in the subject of the letter write “Civic consciousness”.

The participation is free. The book will be issued by the publishing house ofKazanUniversitywith ISBN. Materials will be posted on the website of Kazan Federal University as well as in the international reference data base in Social sciences section Social Science Open Access Repository (SSOAR) (Cologne,Germany).

 

The articles are reviewed by specialists from Germanyand Russiawith the relevant qualification and scientific degrees.
