In order to be considered as an applicant for the School, you must have completed (or be in the process of completing) a Master’s degree, Diplom, Staatsexamen, Magister or the equivalent in a field related to analytical sciences research, e.g. chemistry, physics, biology, natural sciences education (didactics), or analytical sciences.
Your doctoral research is tandem-supervised by scientists of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in collaboration with researchers from Technische Universität Berlin, Universität Potsdam, ETH Zurich, BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, ISAS Leibniz-Institute, Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and Zuse Institute Berlin.
The doctoral program is conducted in English. If you are not a native English speaker we require a proof of your proficiency (equivalent to CEFR B2/C1) in English. Please upload in the space below either a TOEFL or an IELTS certificate or an UNIcert II/III certificate. The minimum score for the TOEFL internet-based test (TOEFL® iBT) is 95. For IELTS the overall band score should be 6.5. Knowledge of German is not a prerequisite for studying at the School. The organizers would, however, like to know your proficiency (if any) in the language.
