International Conference “Europe and Asia-Pacific Countries: Problems of Interactions”

The international conference "Europe and Asia-Pacific Countries: Problems of Interaction" will be held in Irkutsk from September 30 to October 1, 2013. It is suggested to focus on different aspects of cooperation between the European Union, Russia and Asia-Pacific states, to consider the evolution of integration processes in both regions, to analyze the role of Siberia as a bridge between the East and the West, to discuss the problems of European identity and perception of the EU in the world.

The following sections will work within the conference:

 - Interaction between the European Union and Asia-Pacific countries

 - Integration models of the EU and Asia-Pacific in the comparison

 - Russia and Siberia between the East and the West

 - European identity in the context of the EU’s relations with oriental countries

 - Image of the European Union in Russia and in the world.

Russian and foreign researchers are invited to take part in the conference.

Russian is the working language of the conference. Simultaneous interpreting will be provided for foreign participants. The conference will take form of oral presentations.

It is planned to publish the abstracts in a separate volume before the conference and after closure of the conference to publish complete articles of participants in the scientific journal “News of Irkutsk State University” (the journal is included in the list of the Higher Attestation Commission).

The deadline for applications is June 1, 2013. Applications submitted after this date will be rejected.

The application should include your name, academic title (if there are any), position and place of work or study, contact information and report title. The deadline for paper abstracts submission is September 1, 2013 and for texts of scientific articles of the conference participants is December 1, 2013.

The organizing committee will reserve the right to select participants on the basis of the submitted abstracts.

Conference participants from the EUCES partner universities will be reimbursed the costs of travel, accommodation and meals. Other participants can request reimbursement of travel and accommodation expenses in the application. In that case the organizing committee will make a decision about financial support it can offer participants no later than June 30, 2013. The organizing committee can book accommodation at Irkutsk hotels for all participants. Abstracts will be published free of charge.
