International Summer School in Karelia (April 22-28, 2013)

The European Union Centre in the Barents Region invites to take part in the International Summer School inKarelia“Resource Geopolitics and Energy Security in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region” which will be arranged in PetrSU from April 22 to April 28, 2013. 

The School is conducted within the frameworks of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under the financial support of the EU. The students fromFinlandwill also take part in the school. The lecturers of the school represent not onlyRussia(Petrozavodsk,St. Petersburg, Apatity) but also such countries asFinlandandIceland.  

The programme of the school involves two main forms of work: lectures and discussions in workgroups. The topics are:

• Energy resources and energetics in international relations  

• Energy resources in the Russian Arctic Policy

• Energy dialogue between the EU andRussia

• Renewable natural resources in the Barents Region

• Legal aspects of energy security

The working language is English. Free-of-charge board is provided for participants within the framework of the school.
