An open lecture for students ‘Russia and the European Union: Economic Integration’ was conducted in SyktSU within the framework of the project ‘Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia’
On the 7th of May within the framework of the project ‘Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia’, implemented with the financial support of the EU, senior lecturer of SyktSU A.V. Seryakov conducted an open lecture ‘Russia and the European Union: Economic Integration’ for students specializing in Economics. During the lecture students got familiar with the origin of the European Union, its management structure and economic parameters of operation of the EU as a supranational economic union.
The biggest part of the lecture was devoted to issues of the development of economic relations between Russia and the European Union. Students got acquainted with economic structures, trade relations, volumes of export and import, regulation of currency relations by European Central Bank and Central Bank of Russia, cooperation in the fight against economic crimes, etc. Moreover, attention was paid to the state regulation in the fight with crises both in Russia and the EU.
During the final part of the lecture students learned about treaties between the Russian Federation and countries of the European Union that promote deeper economic integration. They also learned about possibilities of further integration processes as a result of Russia’s entry into WTO.
All in all 30 people participated in the event.
