Business simulation “Peace Congress in Hague”
On March 19, 2017, as part of the “EU Days’ within the project “EU Centre in the Barents region of Russia”, implemented with the financial support of the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, a Business simulation “Peace Congress in Hague” took place in “Khoroshee Mesto” [Good Place].
The game focused on modelling the situation in Europe at the beginning of the XX century. The game was aimed to provide knowledge on European history in a game format and allow to imagine what could happen, as well as take part in determining Europe’s destiny. Representatives of 10 countries, including France, Great Britain, Russia, the USA, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Turkey, Japan, Germany tried to solve issues that were important for their countries at that time.
Among the participants were students of the Institute of Economics and Law, Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences, Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies, Institute of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism of PetrSU, school students, members of different organizations and members of the public of Petrozavodsk.
In their reviews the participants pointed out that through the game format and communication with each other they could improve their knowledge on the history of Europe, gain skills in negotiating, argumentation their position and in general had an interesting time.
