EU Days in Murmansk

On May 31, 2013 Europe Days within the framework of the project “Establishing the EU in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under financial support of the European Union, were completed by the festival of German culture “Duetsches Fest” and results of literary translation competition. There were few works in Italian and German, so, only first places were awarded.

The first places in the literary translation competition were taken by:

- Evgenia Shubina, first-year student of Radiotechnics and Radiotelecommunication Systems Department, Marine Academy, MSTU – for the best translation from Italian into Russian;

- Maria Fedotova, fourth-year student, Faculty of Philology, Journalism and Intercultural Communications, Foreign Languages Department, MSTU – for the best translation from German into Russia;    

The maximum number of works was connected with French. So, there are 3 top places:

- the first place was taken by Leila Gashimova, fourth-year student of Faculty of Philology, Journalism and Intercultural Communications, Foreign Languages Department, MSTU;

- the second place was taken by  Evgenia Kopytova, third-year student of Humanitarian and Law Faculty, Maritime Law and Special Linguistic Training Faculty, MSTU;

- the third place was taken by Ekaterina Matytsyna, third-year student of Humanitarian and Law Faculty, Maritime Law and Special Linguistic Training Faculty, MSTU.

The students who have won the first place will be awarded the main prize – certificate with 10 000 rubles from Non-state educational institution of additional education “Logos” for learning the European language chosen by the winner. Prize-winners of the second and third places will be awarded gift and money certificates.     

The first place among schoolchildren was taken by Mirieva Giunel Donmaz kyzy from the tenth grade “A”, gymnasium9 inMurmansk. She will be granted certificate with 5 000 rubles from Non-state educational institution of additional education “Logos” for learning the European language chosen by the winner. The jury also singled out the work by Marina Zinov’eva from the tenth grade “A”, gymnasium9 inMurmansk. She will be awarded a recognition prize.

The final event for the participants of EU Days was conducted in the best restaurant of German cuisine inMurmanskwith special guests – the Russian and German Centre inMurmanskwho presented live vocal performance in Swabian costumes, arranged international square dance master class. They not only sang and danced but the guests also could learn some basic movements of the dance and sang German songs “Rosamunde” and “Maiglöckchen”. Director of the Russian and German Centre in Murmansk Nadezhda Rafikova demonstrated presentation about the history of foundation and main directions of activity of the Centre inMurmansk. The guests also listened to the songs of popular German groups and singers by musical group “Roger”, took part in the quiz “Interesting Facts aboutGermany” and acquired information on the carnival traditions inGermany, etc. Therefore, it was real German festival which left unforgettable impressions.
