Integrated Course Devoted to the European Union was arranged in PetrSU

This course is the first part of the training programme, devoted to the cooperation with the European Union. The training programme was arranged by PetrSU for the municipal and regional authorities, regional institutions of the civil society (non-commercial organizations, business associations, friendship societies, mass media) of theRepublicofKareliawithin the framework of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under the financial support of the European Union.     

The aim is to provide the essential knowledge about the European Union, its institutions, programmes and to form acquirements for the development of cooperation and projects activity. 

 

28 people participated in the course. They represented ministries, municipal administrations and budgetary institutions, business incubator and other structures ofPetrozavodsk, Medvezh’egorsk and Suojarvsky, Kaleval’sky, Sortaval’sky, Myezersky and Segezhsky districts. The course was delivered by a senior lecturer of the International relations Department of the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences Anton Lapshin.    

The course included such topics as history of European integration, the EU institutes, the process of decision-making in the EU, spheres of policy and relationsRussia-the EU.

The participants demonstrated great interest in the topic and emphasized that the course had special significance and was useful as for their professional activity as for the personal enhancement.

Aside from this course the training programme also includes the course devoted to the principles and basics of international cooperation and one-day workshop on European donor organizations which should be arranged throughout this year.
