New Courses in English

The meeting of leaders, lecturers and managers of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under the financial support of the European Union, took place in Petrozavodsk State University.

The development of new courses in English devoted to the EU is the main issue of discussion.

The participants of the meeting confirmed the topics of the courses, requirements for the work program and details of courses testing at the Faculties of History, Economics, Law, Philology and Faculty of Political and Social Sciences.

All in all 15 new courses in English will be developed within the framework of the project. Each course will include 36 hours: 18 – in-class learning, 18 - students’ independent work.

The courses developed within the project will not only allow to increase the quality of education connected with the EU topics but also to improve the knowledge of the English language.  

It’s noteworthy that in the course of the meeting the participants proposed to use these courses as a basis of the future interdisciplinary Mater’s degree program in English which will be created within the framework of PetrSU Institute of Northern European Studies. The usage of the courses in Master’s degree program will ensure the successful and sustainable continuation of the project ideas implementation after its completion and also will assist in the development of the educational programs in foreign languages in PetrSU.
