PetrSU Arranged “Integrated Course Devoted to the European Union” on the base of MSTU

On March 28-29, 2013 “Integrated Course Devoted to the European Union” was arranged on the base ofMurmanskStateTechnicalUniversitywithin the framework of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under the financial support of the European Union.

“Integrated Course Devoted to the EU” is the first stage of the training programme which is comprised of 2 educational courses – the general course on the EU, the course devoted to the principles and basics of international cooperation and online conference with different European organizations.       

The aim of the programme is to provide the essential information on the European Union, its institutions, financial instruments and using the practical examples to analyze some methods of development of international cooperation and project activity.

The programme is intended for representatives of municipal and regional authorities, regional institutions of the civil society (non-commercial organizations, business associations, friendship societies, mass media) ofMurmanskandMurmanskregion.  

Approximately 30 representatives of administrations of Monchegorsk, closed administrative territorial union of Severomorsk, municipal body of Pechengsky district, urban-type village Nikel, research institutes of Kolar Research Centre of Russian Academy of Science in Apatity, Murmansk Naval Biology Institute, Polar Research Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanography, Murmansk Regional Agency for Small and Medium-sized Business Support, etc. participated in the seminar.   

The course was delivered by a senior lecturer of the International relations Department of Petrozavodsk State University Anton Lapshin. 

“Integrated Course Devoted to the European Union” included such topics as history and theory of European integration, the EU institutions, the process of decision-making in the EU, spheres of political interests and Russia-EU Relations.

All in all, the course has received a positive response from participants. During the lecturers they asked a lot of additional questions. Many participants who participated in the first stage of the training programme have already registered for the second course “Basics and Principles of International Cooperation”. After completion of each course certificates are awarded to participants.
