The Annual BSRUN Forum "Implementing University Strategy and Mobilities" (07.06.2018, Saint Petersburg)

In cooperation with Saint Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON) BSRUN has conducted its annual Forum on June, 7 2018.

The annual forums concern significant tendencies in the higher education in the Baltic Sea Region. This time Forum was devoted to the topic “Implementing University Strategy and Mobilities”

After the welcome addresses by Igor Maksimtsev, rector of UNECON, and Kari Hyppönen, president of BSRUN, the plenary session “University strategies” started the work of the forum.

Representatives of University of Turku (Irinja Paakkanen & Mari Leino), National Research University “Higher School of Economics” (Marina Batalina), Saimaa UAS (Anneli Pirttilä), Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Kseniya Prasolova), Pskov State University (Marina Makhotaeva) and Saint Petersburg State University (Stanislav Tkachenko) presented cases of internationalization development strategy of their institutions by means of academic and staff mobility.

In the end of plenary session Tadas Juknevičius (MOSTA) andMari Leino (University of Turku) presented theresearch report of Baltic Science Network about challenges in mobility in the Baltic Sea Region.

Moderator of the plenary session was Dmitry Vasilenko (UNECON).

After lunch during the second panel session “Managing international mobility” more practical questions were discussed: problems of students mobility by Olga Krylova (Higher School of Economics – Saint Petersburg), regulation of study periods recognition by Evgeniy Shevchenko (AVRIR), engaging international talents by Adam Jagiello-Rusilowski (University of Gdansk), international accreditation by Igor Postula (University of Warsaw) and special software facilitating mobility programmes by Valentin Iani (QS Unisolution).

This session was moderated by Irinja Pakkanen (University of Turku).

Final part of the conference was panel discussion with university cases of mobility programmes: Saint Petersburg State University (Natalia Petrova and Natalia Taranova), Yaroslav-The-Wise Novgorod State University (Natalia Shaydorova), North-West Institute of Management of RANEPA (Evgeniya Chernyavskaya) and Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno (Alena Belakoz).

After short presentation Mari Leino (University of Turku) discussed with colleagues the actual problems of international mobility management.

 

The forum attended more than 80 persons from 8 countries (Belarus, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Russia).

The work of the conference was finished by informal reception.

PetrSU on this Forum was represented by Marina Gvozdeva, vice-rector for academic affairs.

The trip took place within the framework of the project “EU Center in the Barents Region of Russia”, carried out with the financial support of the Erasmus + program of the European Union.
