The enlargement of the European Union, the economic and political trends and the convergence process

On the 21st of November 2017 the third meeting of the EU Research Club took place at PetrSU. The Club was founded within the framework of the international project ‘Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents area of Russia’ and then supported again by another project "Open module on the EU" project co-finnaced by the Erasmus programme of the EU.

This time the meeting was held as a roundtable on the following topic: ‘The enlargement of the European Union, the economic and political trends and the convergence process’. Students and lecturers from faculties of Law, Economics, Political and Social Sciences, as well as the staff of the department of the International project and programs participated in the roundtable.

Within the course of the roundtable the following questions were covered upon: the character and reasons of the crisis; definition of the field, where crisis started; interests and goals of the EU member states; future of the EU and Russia’s position on the current situation in the EU. The discussion was held in a form of a debate, and the participants actively exchanged opinions.
