5th meeting of the EU Research Club
On November 18, 2013 the meeting of the EU Research Club was arranged in PetrSU. The Club has existed since 2012 and it was created within the framework of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under financial support of the European Union. Students and lecturers of the Faculty of Economics, History, Philology and Medicine, representatives of PetrSU Scientific Library participated in the meeting. They watched four short films from the series “Visions of Europe” shot by European film directors. They reflect the image and visions ofEuropeof each film director. No doubt, it is an outward glance. And that aroused the biggest interest. From all of 25 movies participants had the opportunity to watch the works fromLatvia– “Everything Will Be Alright”,Italy– “Anne Lives in Margare”,Greece– “Communal Apartment” andSpain– “Our Children”. In the course of the active discussions participants came to conclusion that these films break stereotypes about Europe, showEuropefrom different sides and reflect that it also has everyday worries and global problems similar to other non-EU countries. They are of great interest as they demonstrated non-traditional view ofEurope. Nevertheless, the final film “Our Children” reflects prospects for further development in the EU, the main idea of this institution – establishing the real European team.
