Migration situation in the EU

The meeting of the EU Research club took place in the European Union Centre in the Barents Region of Russia on December 4, 2015.

The club exists since 2012 and operates within the “EU Center in the Barents Region of Russia” project, supported by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.

This time the meeting took form of a discussion of the topic “Migration situation in the EU”. Institute of International Programs staff members, students of the Institute of History, Political and Social Studies took part in this meeting. Professor Yuri Kilin, DSc in history, head of the PetrSU department of history, political science and international relations, head of the research center of the WWII problems on the European North, chairman of Karelian Department of the European Studies association was an invited expert in the meeting.

During the meeting participants watched video materials related to the topic, heard the expert opinion, and exchanged their knowledge and evaluations of the situation. Many participants shared their personal experience of communicating with migrants and European citizens concerning the migration situation in the region.

The participants gave positive feedback on the organization of the meeting and expressed the readiness to be a part of the EU Research Center in the future.
