Webinar: "Shale gas development policy in Europe"

On December 8, 2015, the European Union Center in the Barents Region of Russia within the EU research club framework held a webinar with the Center of European Studies in Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada).  Institute of International programs staff members took part in that meeting.

Shale gas development policy in Europe was the webinar’s topic. Francis McGowan, senior lecturer at Sussex University, one of the leading universities in Great Britain, presented his position on the subject.

There are people who support and there are people who argue against the development of such energy source. Some people say that such policy will be beneficial for the economic and energy situation in Europe, other argue that it will lead to breaching the environmental, health and safety standards. Different viewpoints, as well as debates at the EU institutions level were presented during the webinar.
