The Associate Professor of the Department of World History, Political Studies and International Relations Natalia Smirnova read the course “The concept of the Europe’s Union in the European socio-political thought in the modern and contemporary times” for the 5th year Master Degree students of the “History” program specializing in “United Europe: from the idea of ancient empire to the European Union”.


PetrSU wrapped up the three courses on the EU developed in the framework of the EU Center in the Barents Region of Russia project implemented with the financial support of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.


The Associate Professor of the Department of World History, Political Studies and International Relations Varvara Inozemtseva read the course “The European Union and the Russian Federation” for the 4th year Bachelor Degree students. The aim of the course was to provide the students with comprehensive insight into the historical background, trends, current status, and prospects for the development of the relations between Russia and the European Union.


The Hungarian delegation included Attila Farkas, the Stipendium Hungaricum program officer at the Tempus Public Foundation; Maria Hoffman, international coordinator of the Ministry of Human Resources of Hungary; Borisz Vegvari, instructor of the University of Pecs (Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Education and Regional Development, Department of Human Resources Development).


The employees of the Department of International Projects and Programs of PetrSU in cooperation with the International Agency “SLOVO” held an information event dedicated to the academic mobility programs of the European Union for 2018-2019.


Natalia Vladimirovna Silina, an expert from the International Scientific and Educational Center on the History and Culture of the European North of the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences of PetrSU, taught the 3rd year undergraduate students of the IIPISN course “Middle Eastern Policy of the European Union at the Beginning of the 21st Century”


On July 20, 2017 the work on developing and delivering lectures on the course “European Law” was completed at the EU Info Centre of PetrSU. Lectures were given in English in the framework of the “Open Module on the European Union” project, carried out with the financial support of the Erasmus + program of the European Union.


On May 19, 2017, a presentation of the Eastern Europe Research Centre of the Warsaw University (Studium Europy Wschodniej UW), a recognized Polish scientific institution that specialized on Russian and Eastern Europe studies, took place at the Polish Institute in Saint Petersburg. The Research Centre was established in 1990 and became a place not only for discussions, but also for meetings, exchanging opinions among outstanding specialists as well as young scientists that focus on problems connected with history, culture and international relations in Central-Eastern Europe.


Scientific conference for young researchers of the problems of modern Europe “Treaty of Rome: Europe after 60 years” took place at PetrSU on May 29, 2017. The conference was held within the framework of the “EU Center in the Barents Region of Russia” project, implemented with the financial support of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.


From 13 to 17 March Petrozavodsk State University hosted international school “Prospects of European integration: comparison with the regional integration processes in the Northern Europe”
