From May 18 to May 25, 2014 International summer school in Karelia “Sovereignty in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region” was conducted at Petrozavodsk State University. The school was organized in the framework of the project “Establishing the EC Centre in the Barents Region of Russia” implemented under financial support of the European Union.


On May 16, 2014 the winners of pupils’ competition “What Do I Know about the EU” were rewarded with memorable prizes and diplomas. The competition had the form of online quiz where the schoolchildren from Petrozavodsk and the Republic of Karelia responded to the questions connected with the history of European integration, EU institutions, its nowadays state and symbols. Besides, there was an analytical question: “What is the future of the European Union 20 Years Later?”.


Under support of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under the financial support of the European Union, PetrSU took part in the international educational exhibition “Education and Career” in Skopje (Macedonia) from April 10 to April 12, 2014.


On March 14, 2014 ceremonial announcement of results of the quiz on the history of the European Union for pupils from Murmansk and Murmansk region was arranged.


From March 24 to March 26,2014 inBarents EU Centre the course EU Regional Policy” was conducted in the framework of the course “Regionalism, Regional Policy and Cross-Border Cooperation in the EU”. It was delivered by foreign instructor Mikko Vaha-Sipila, programs manager inLithuaniaandSweden, Regional and Town Policy Directorate, European Commission. He expressed his personal standpoint on such issues as EU regional policy history, logic and practice, its role among other spheres of EU policy, as well as the current situation and perspectives with the focus onBaltic Searegion


From March 18 to March 21, 2014 the visit of two lecturers from International Institute of Business Education Larisa Bilous and Mikhail Kosmynin toHarstadUniversityCollegewas arranged within the framework of lecturers’ exchange.


Under support of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under the financial support of the European Union, PetrSU took part in the international educational exhibition “Education without Borders” which took place inSofia(Bulgaria) from March 27 to March 30, 2014.


On March 5, 2014 the space bridge “The EU Closer to You” was arranged in the Barents EU Centre within the framework of EU Research Club. The Club has existed since 2012 and it was created within the framework of the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia”, implemented under financial support of the European Union.


On February 7, 2014 Barents EU Centre and Atlantic and Asian Cooperation Centre arranged webinar with Carlton University EU Centre (Ottawa,Canada). Barents EU Centre was represented by coordinator Anastasia Kuznetsova,Atlanticand Asian Cooperation Centre – by director Aleksey Rogozin.


On December 6, 2013 within the framework of “Days of Social Skills” in Petrovskaya school Anastasia Kuznetsova, the head of the EU Information Centre, coordinator of the Barents EU Centre, presented Barents EU Centre and responded to the questions of the audience.
