On the 14th of May Pär Hallström, professor at Umeå University (Sweden), who visited PetrSU within the framework of the international project ‘Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia’, implemented with the financial support of the EU, met with the teaching staff of the Faculty of Law.


On the 7th of May within the framework of the project ‘Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia’, implemented with the financial support of the EU, senior lecturer of SyktSU A.V. Seryakov conducted an open lecture ‘Russia and the European Union: Economic Integration’ for students specializing in Economics. During the lecture students got familiar with the origin of the European Union, its management structure and economic parameters of operation of the EU as a supranational economic union.


In April 2012 International Institute of Business Education conducted a contest among senior pupils of schools of Murmansk, Monchegorsk, Olenegorsk and Severomorsk within the framework of the project ‘Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia’, implemented with the financial support of the European Union.


On the 19th of April 2012 the first meeting of the EU Research Club took its place. The Club was founded within the framework of the ‘Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents area of Russia’ project funded by the EU.


First examinations in English for lecturers took place within the framework of the project ‘Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents region of Russia’.


A photo exhibition “Euro-2012” granted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Saint-Petersburg has opened in PetrSU.


Lyudmila Kulikovskaya, Head of the Department for International Cooperation together with Head EU Information Centre Anastasia Kuznetsova took part in the open debate on the topic ‘Is European crisis a threat to Russia?’


On March 23, 2012 Head of the EU Information Centre of PetrSU Anastasia Kuznetsova conducted negotiations with Head of the EU Information Centre of Kazan Federal University Lilia Ilikova.


Ekaterina Pavlenko and Marina Nikitina, students of the 10th grade ‘A’ of the school № 43 with the in-depth study of foreign languages and subjects of artistic and aesthetic cycle won the ‘Become a Young EU Researcher’ competition that took place among the school children of Petrozavodsk within the framework of the ‘Establishing EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia’ project financed by the European Union.


This event takes place in Karelia for the first time, yet the organisers of the festival hope that it will become a tradition in the future.
